HMong | Economic Advancement | Research | Equity (HERE) Conference & Summit

The primary purpose of the HMong | Economic Advancement | Research | Equity (HERE) Conference is to reshape and support the wealth gap in communities of color by bridging the gap and increasing access to social and economic resources, including startup and investment capital, strategic entrepreneurial networks, and participation in community decision-making processes among Hmong entrepreneurs across Wisconsin.

The HMong | Economic Advancement | Research | Equity (HERE) Conference was designed to create awareness and engage communities on diversity and resource access issues. This is the first-ever national conference for HMong and their allies, creating a safe space to increase visibility, showcase business innovation, and build networks to address cultural barriers.

HALED focuses on capacity building for entrepreneurship and leadership organizations to enhance equitable access to economic and social resources for the Hmong community in Wisconsin. HMong Economic Advancement & Capacity Building Research Project

HALED strives to use evidence-based and data-driven intervention to increase HMong and Ethnic communities' wealth equity. Therefore, Hmong American Leadership and Economic Development (HALED) conduct research studies to better understand the economic experiences and needs of Hmong American entrepreneurs. These researches are community-engaged researches that will help inform and shape local and statewide programs seeking to increase and support Hmong businesses; assist financial institutions in creating and providing culturally competent and ground services, and empower Hmong Americans to advocate for policies that address the economic needs of their community.

HALED’s conference and training programs are informed by the HMong Economic Advancement & Capacity Building Researches conducted to examine the systemic and cultural barriers affecting HMong community Entrepreneurs.

 

Advocacy

Understanding that civic participation and civic engagement are fundamental to larger movement-building work, HALED integrates civic engagement work into all aspects of the organization’s programs year-round. We believe in building strong coalition partners that will bridge systems and culture to eliminate wealth gaps in communities.
